Import Tool Issue

Aug 05, 2005 7 Replies

Just got RMS and am in the process of trying to import our products over from QBPOS using the import tool. For some reason, the import is bringing in all the item numbers, but only the numbers for 80% of the items (the description, qty, cost, etc fields are all blank). The other 20% have all the info, and the complete ones are our most recently added items. Anybody experienced this when they imported?

I'm on kind of a tight schedule and was thinking about forgoing messing around with it and just getting that SQL import utility from SQL Manager I saw mentioned in earlier posts. Does anyone have any feedback on that product?

Thank you, Miranda in Madison, WI

Yes, I checked the CSV file. All the data is accurate, no hidden characters or anything. It's peculiar that only the last items are importing accurately, as all the items are formatted similarily in the CSV. The only information that is coming through for the majority is the item number (barcode number), for the most recent hundred or so, everything comes through into the proper fields.

This sounds like a problem with the data export rather than with the import tool. Have you tried opening the file in Excel or notepad (I'm guessing that it's Comma Separated Text - CSV) and verifying that all the item data exists in the export file?

Do you know where I can get (download) the import tool? Thanks

You can request it from MS Tech support. There seem to be a lot of copies floating around in the wild, but I don't know where they are coming from.

Where do I contact MS Tech Support?
