Changing font size for label template

Most resellers here with knowledge must have hated me by now (in a world where customers' hands are tied by their $$$$ :=)

Hopefully, this is a bit of a good news for some frustrated customers: The Zebra printer LP2844 prints better with the Eltron template that came with the RMS. This works well with tag size 2.25x1.37. However, the font seems a little large. When barcode/description is long, it wraps around and double prints the beginning of the same line. I am coming very close to a solution......

Zebra tech support provided a translation for the 4X3 Zebra tag which works better too, but they have done me such a big favor. I'm not sure if they will rewrite the font for me.

MS tech support threw away this incident support case!....Would anyone here be willing to take at shot at this template and rezise a little, in exchange for more feedbackfrom a retailer with 15 years experience (me) to win future customers?....

Here's the template, and thanks for "listening anyway"...

'Eltron Label (other) [INITIALIZE] [LABEL] N ZT Q254,24 S2 D5 A125,10,0,3,1,1,R,"" B35,70,0,1,2,3,75,B,"" A260,95,0,2,2,3,N,"" A21,200,0,3,1,1,N,"" P1 N [FINALIZE]

Thanks Glenn,

The "zoomed in" tips were very helpful. I changed the font to 2 and it prints almost perfectly now except for a very minor hiccup: barcodes skip one in every 20-30 tags or so...

One tech person gave up, but another had come back with parts of the manual and more detailed explannation, very helpful as well. I'll test the scanners again to be sure.

This is a very important solutions for many retailers who use direct thermal hang tags. It's inexpensive, fast, and can scan almost without fail!.... To my experience, the inkjet/laserjet is not so reliable with barcodes. Prior to making the zebra work, I tested one Avery label page; the barcodes scanned. Then I went and printed 2k labels, none of them scanned (same label size, same printer, same barcode type!...)

A21,200,0,x,1,1,N,""

the "x" above is the Font Selection.

In your posted label, it is set to "3" which is 10 point. From the EPL2 programmers guide downloaded from Zebra's web site, the available Fonts are:

1 = 6 Point 2 = 7 Point 3 = 10 Point 4 = 12 Point 5 = 24 Point

Problem 1: Zebra skips barcodes on random labels when using EPL/Generic

1) Sell Eltron printer on eBay or use only for Windows driver labels. 2) Buy Cognitive Advantage printer; will not skip on Generic Text-only and PCL formating options for Cognitive are nicer than Zebra IMHO.

Problem 2: Barcode does not scan > Thanks Glenn,

Kay, Look at the label you have. Make sure the holes and gaps are all punched out on them. This is what the printers uses to know it has advanced one label in the feeding of them. I have seen them not punched out. It took me hours to figure this out....read on...

Customers pay ALL the bills, they have to. Or else a business owner would be paying to be in business! Think about it! DOH! Since your a business owner, it drives me nuts you don't see it. I mean do you go to your customers and provide your goods and services for free Kay? I hope not or you will be broke soon and in the poor house. If you get one bit of free advice from a person who has invested hundreds of hours and spent their hard earned money to learn this product you should be grateful, and if you don't, well so sorry.

Reminds me of and old story. A guy gets off a bus. He sees a starving cute lil puppy dog, so he feels sorry and feeds the dog half the sandwich he brought for lunch. This goes on for a few years and the dog becomes strong and happy. One week the guy gets sick and does not feed the dog. The day he does come back he finds the dog and the dog looks up at him and says "where you been your dirty rat bag, I have been starving."
