Customize .qrp files and Purchase Order Screen

Hi, I was recently assigned as the technical advisor for a small business using Microsoft RMS. I have no background with this software, nor anything similar to it. I am a mechanical engineer doing a favor for an old boss and want to set him in the right direction. Essentially, here is what I want to do:

1) I would like to modify the Item Movement History report to include cost data. From my understanding, I need to modify the qrp file to get this data. However, I do not know SQL nor really have the time to. I tried comparing the Item Movement Report with the Item Movement History Report with little luck. I can't figure out the proper syntax to do this correctly.

2) In the purchase orders list, there is no Cost column for the PO's. My boss would like the Cost and Total Cost to show up in the purchase order list, instead of manually opening up each PO.

Is there some resource I can utilize for free/cheap to perform these adjustments myself? If not, can someone direct me to a company or specialist who can customize RMS for me? I am located in Central NJ, if that matters.

I apologize if this sounds very amateurish, because it is. I honestly have a minimal idea of what is going on, and don't know why he asked me to do it. I searched this newsgroup and online, but there appears to be very little information on this software. I am getting lost in this website also. The links don't seem to take me where I'd like to go, probably because I am unfamiliar with the terminology. (Heh, that is why I am an engineer, not a programmer/database manager). I just don't have much time to do deal with this, so I need an affordable solution as soon as possible. I appreciate any help you can offer me.

Thank You.
