F2 behavior in RMS SO

Remember the old days when you entered a line item in QS2K's POS... You could select that line item and press F2 lookup and the item on that line would automatically be selected in the item list.

With RMS, the behavior is different. This is annoying, particularly because if you enter an item, then want to go an change the item properties, you need to lookup the item again.

Is there any workaround to this?

If you add an item to the POS trans screen and highlight the item then press F2 it will bring you to that item in the item list only if the ItemLookupCode column is selected in the item list window.

What is missing from QS2K is when you have RMS help you find and unknown item checked in properties, then scan an item and have the find window display and bring you to the closest possible match instead of just displaying the item list window.

Rob,

That is my problem - when the item code is selected, F2 does NOT bring me to the item. It brings me to the beginning of the sorted list of items!

BTW, I agree - the find feature is very nice.

Jason,

Check your settings in Manager | File | Configuration | Options tab | General Option | Don't remember sort lists

If you uncheck it, it depends on the order of sort you are in, look for the arrow in the column. In ILC order it will take you to the item, if in Description or Type, it takes you to the first item in that sort list.

If you check it, it reverts back to ILC order every time.

Time for a product suggestion! These should be mutually exclusive. If I sort my list by description, the item should still be selected when I press F2. If my cashier always looks up items by name rather than item code, they have to press tab twice every time they want to do a lookup...
