set item tax for each store when creating item in HQ

When creating items in HQ via the wizard you should be able to set the item tax for each store. It currently defaults to the only tax option you have, so if you create a large matrix you either have to go into each item separately, go the the item tax tab, and change the other stores tax code, or you have to issue a WS320. This seems like a lot of work for creating and managing an item. The more hoops you have to jump through to manage your business through HQ the less appealing the product is to clients. They get very frustrated as they find out how inefficient HQ really is.

Well, I used to think this way as well; but now I have been defing all items with a tax code of 001 (example) then ensuring that the store's tax structure is set up w the same code and have their local tax populated in the File | Confg of SO Mgr.

This is the slickest and easiest way of tax management in a nationwide situation. And I guess any situation where you have more that 1 location.

So do you not create the sales tax and item tax in HQ at all? I have the default tax set in the config at the store, but when i pushed an item from HQ that had no tax setting it still didnt reset the tax with the store default.

thanks,

Ron

Try AutoGen in our RMS Toolkit. Select Miscellaneous tab and enable "Set item tax to default store's tax in HQ". New items will automatically be assigned the default sales tax set at the store level. Store Operations, Manager, File, Coniguration, Sales Tax tab, Default item tax group.

If you'd like to create new items 10-100x faster than the RMS options, try our Power Ops add-in. Setup barcode defaults, auto-generate item lookup codes, setup matrix style sheets, enter all data in one form, autogenerate parent/child items, set a margin/price calculator, and much more.
