When removing a discontinued item from a matrix at the HQ level. The item still stays in the matrix at the store level. So we have to make each store go into their matrix at the store level and remove the item from the matrix. Is there an easier way to do this? It would be nice if we just removed the item at HQ and it would take it out at SO.

Check back in the newsgroup (Although that thread may have been purged by now)... You can issue Style 51 worksheets from HQ to remove children from a matrix at the stores.
I believe that Afshin from Retail Realm posted a script to automate this, but you would have to select the matrix that you were going to update.
