My pinpad 1000SE has what appears to be a "ethernet" type connector. How does this connect to my PC? Do i need a different cable or adaptor?

You have to get the proper cable, usually a cable to connect to your computer's serial/COM port. A 9 pin on one end and RJ14 on the other. Contact your reseller or whoever you bought the pinpad from.
