Veifone 1000SE pinpad(USB)

I'm setting up Verifone 1000 SE pin pad through the "Configure Microsoft OPOS Service Objects" section. When I click on test button, it takes me to the PIN Pad test section. I click on "Begin EFT" and than "Enable PIN" buttons. It shows the $1.00 amount on the pin pad, but when I click green button to enter the pin number, it gives an error. I have no idea why it errors when go to enter the pin number.

Thanks for your help Dave

DCR,

Sorry to be a little off topic - but I am getting ready to ditch my terminals and use RMS directly for debits. I have 1000se pin pads (cabled for Tranz 380 terminals), but they have what looks like a PS2 connector. I want to go to USB.

Do you have a USB cable for the 1000se, and if so, is it from Verifone? or are you using an adapter?

Regards,

Marc

They are made to connect to an offline swipe terminal. To connect them to pc you need an adapter from Verifone. I believe the part number is

10776-02, Verifone PinPad 1000SE Interface Cable Kit (DB9 Cable Power Pack). It converts the ps2/s-video/apple adb looking connector to a serial connector.

Of course your computer needs a DB9 connector on the back. Notice that if you buy a new workstation from Dell, they are now legacy free and contain USB connectors only: no printer connector, no ps2 for mouse or keyboard, and no db9 serial (com port).

We had to buy a bunch of pci cards to add the legacy ports > DCR,
