HQClient timeout for LAN Connections

Feb 21, 2005 1 Replies

We have an HQ Client connecting to HQ Server across a WAN. Our WAN is accessed by the client using a dial up router, the PC's default gateway. It appears that while RMS allows you to set time outs for local RAS connections the same is not true for a LAN type set up. We have tried altering TCP settings in registry and seeing if there is a registry setting for HQ client. This has proved unsuccessful with the HQ client timing out after 15 seconds. This appears to be hard coded, can anyone confirm this or suggest a fix.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian, I have the same issue. Wish I had a solution. HQ client establishes a vpn connection to the server which looks fine, but then times out trying to find the HQ server. After a few goes it connects fine and establishes a connection and then the worksheets are processed. It's a pain.

In the beginning I had the connection terminate on the firewall and all worked ok. Then the Dlink firewall packed up and I have not been able to get a firewall where a pptp vpn connection can be made to a gain to duplicate the previous working considtions.

Any pointers from anyone would be great. regards Dan
