Is Your RMS Partner Ripping You Off?

I hear it all the time and a lot on this message board, that people are not certain about their RMS Person. I personally did not have a specialist for the longest time, and I tried to figure things out for myself. Then I had an issue and I hired a local RMS Partner who came to my store, and he ripped me off. He couldn't resolve the issue, but was able to still charge me??? I somehow got a hold of Jeff at Checkpoint Software, and he was extremely fair with his pricing, so nice, and basically an amazing RMS Partner. I'm just sharing my experience...I have never met him, he lives in Nevada, I am in California...but either he talks me through an issue over the phone, or he logs into my system, and takes care of the problem. I'm just letting people know about Jeff at Checkpoint Software because of the on going great service. I have an RMS Partner and have never felt "ripped off". As with any software, reseller capability/experience will vary from VAR to VAR.

I am a dedicated IT guy, and I think that most RMS users don't have a dedicated IT person in-house. After less than 1 year, I feel that I know RMS as well or better than my partner in many respects. There are still times when my reseller has expertise that is useful.

My only contact with Jeff has been here on microsoft.public.pos, and it has all been very positive. Jeff has probably answered as many or more of my questions as anyone. There are other good guys here, and I'd imagine that they are quality RMS partners in their part of the world. Kevin Skinner and Glenn Adams come to mind. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Tom, I could not agree with you more...regarding some other great partners...Glenn Adams does come to mind defineatly, and I'm not trying to disrespect anyone...I am just sharing my positive experience with Jeff at Checkpoint Software...I get nothing out of doing this.

My partner has been exceptional... they have been involved with my RMS roll out every step of the way, weekends included.

I have never felt ripped off and in fact they have gone above and beyond to keep the cost low while keeping the quility of equipment and service high.

Certainly I would have no problem recomending my partners, Brian Wannan and George Sowan, to anyone who is looking for the one of the best in the business.

I wouldn't say I am getting ripped off, but I am small potatoes to my reseller, and I just don't get the level of service I expect. That being said, I am cheap, and liek to do a lot of the work myself.
