Is ZZ report necessary

Jun 17, 2007 7 Replies

We do not have shifts so only close each register once a day. In QS2000 we only printed the X report and then the ZZ and elected not to print the Z report. However, in RMS it appears that we no longer can elect NOT to print the Z report. It appears that the Z report closes the register out. Thus, if we printed a Z report each day, is there any need to print a ZZ report? We want to cut down on wasting our receipt printer paper.

Thanks for your input.

Hi Jane, The difference you already mentioned then for your clear understanding you no really need ZZ if you do this it will close all your Z from day one (an idea) the purpose as already mentioned by you is that Z close the day, shift and ZZ close all the day and all the shift same day or the day includes all the Z reports generated since the last ZZ report.

It is also common practice to use Z to close day and ZZ to close month.

You may want to check with your credit card processor. Some credit card processing companies auto settle when the zz report is run.

doing a Z or a ZZ report will not effect any credit card info with a default RMS install with or without VITAL EDC setup, UNLESS you have an add in with a specific feature for batch settlement during a Z report.

It is not necessary, but it can be useful to get totals for a given period of time (ie. monthly).

If you are wary of consuming receipt paper on your first one, just toggle off the printer at POS before you ZZ, then toggle it back on when done.
