When we are in manager, and open the items, it takes a very long time for it to finally load, sometimes almost two minutes...this doesn't seem normal to me. We have 220,000+ items, could this have something to do with it?
Would setting a bunch of older items to inactive help performance? Reindexing, checking database?

Also can you define very long time? 15 seconds? 30? 60? more?
220,000+ items is quite a few, but nothing unheard of. Reindexing the database certainly will not hurt anything, and you may see signifigant improvments. Marking unsed items as Inactive will also help, as then these are lot loaded into that list. If you are ok with just using the RMS Find window, that is an option too. Inside of Manager -> File -> Configuration -> Options -> Item Options, select the "Always display 'Find' window for items" option. This will bring up the find window instead of the list in both Manager and POS. This is an option a lot of our clients set if they build up this many items.Have something to add?
