Thanks ozzie - but store ops manager wont open because it detects the licence violation and automatically shuts down - so i cant get into it to configure this...... any other ideas?

How long ago did you take the backup? If it's within 2 days, Manager should open without issue. Within 60 days, you should get a warning saying the software is in evaluation mode. After 60 days you get the license expired error and the software shuts down.

I did the backup at work, and then zipped the file, transfered it to my home computer where i successfully restored it, all within a few hours. I havent managed to get it to open successfully on my home computer at all......

I was under the impression it would enter evaluation mode when i ran store ops....

would it be a problem that i did the backup from HQ software and restored it and am us> How long ago did you take the backup? If it's within 2 days, Manager

You need to go to your store, and create a second register in your stores terminal. Manager - Database - Registers - Register List. Turn off printers and other peripherals in this second register too.

Then take a backup of this database, take it home and restore. Go into SO Admin, change the register number in configuration to 2, and presto, it'll work.
