Portable Scanner Use with RMS

Jan 01, 2007 2 Replies

My company would like to begin using portable scanners with RMS for the purpose of inventory/cycle counting. Can someone who is using portable scanners please contact me at snipped-for-privacy@venus.com so that I can "pick their brain" on the subject?

Thank you.

I'm using 2BInventory and a Symbol scanner. It works pretty well. Support from 2B has been excellent when needed.

New West technologies also has a solution that looks pretty good, but I haven't used it.

Don't skimp on the hardware.

Hey Tom,

Could you let me know what Symbol you're using? Also, do you use wireless to directly touch the database or is the 2B solution static? I've had reports from the field on issues with the MC50 being unreliable on TKIP. I'm in the midst of a WiFi quandry and am wondering what you're using that seems to work for you.

We're partnering with EVT who provide a web interface and we do everything in IE, which can be nice in a pinch, but has its limitations. For instance it's pretty much useless if wifi goes out.

Thanks,

BK
