I just started looking at various POS systems at the NRF Show yesterday and am generally impressed with the RMS System.



I have enjoyed reading through this forum. The amount of information exchanged here will be a major factor in my using the program.



A few questions for you:


  1. Is there anywhere I can obtain a complete set of manuals to read over on the program? I don't mind paying for the PDF if I have to.


  1. Throughout the forum, it references being registered in order to get to certain download or information. Can someone please explain what that is all about.

MS RMS is distributed by Microsoft Business Solutions (recently renamed "Dynamics") through a partner/reseller channel. Dynamics is a different business unit that the part of Microsoft that produces the "Classic" applications like Windows and Office. Their Technical support site is called "Customer Source" and requires a login. To log in to Customer Source, you must subscribe to the Maintenence Plan for RMS, which currently costs 18% of the retail price of your software per year. In addition to Customer Source access, this gives you access to all updates and service packs released during your subscription.

There are PDF versions of the user guides available, but I'm not sure what the distribution policy is on those. I would recommend finding a certified partner in your area and working with them to find the information you need.
