POS All In One Computers

We are looking at replacing all of POS computers with all in one units. I am looking for recommondations from the community on who we should look at. We have already looked at the Point of Sale Terminals from Radiant Systems and the SurePOS from IBM. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks, Stephen Moore

Stephen:

Do not, Do Not, DO NOT purchase Radiant terminals for use with RMS; they won't work properly due to proprietary design.

Everyone has all-in-one units today. Units that are compatible with nearly all POS programs are available from PosiFlex, Pioneer, Touch Dynamics, Logic Controls, ProTech and many more.

You want to consider features, price, warranties, exchanges and support in your search.

Contact me directly if you want details on any of these lines.

Miles,

What doesn't work with RMS and Radiant? The Dallas Cowboys are currently running with this setup and I haven't gotten any negative feedback from them on the pairing?

Thanks, Stephen

Quick notice from Germany: we are working with IBM SurePOS Terminals (xx3, xx4, xx5 series) since 6 years and they are working withour any problems.

Are you sure? The Cowboys deal is supposed to be all Radiant: Aloha for food, CounterPoint SQL for POS. Kind of interesting if they are not running CounterPoint for POS since Radiant is touting this install - along with Yankee Stadium - as one of their shining stars.

(As an aside: the Cowboys and the Yankees - and I think another team or stadium - have formed an in-house tech company to manage these systems. They are Radiant partners).

Anyway, Radiant terminals use proprietary serial ports that don't play nicely with non-Radiant software. Certainly there will be instances where things work but when they break I think you will find support from Radiant very scarce.

Price wise Radiant is the most expensive choice. You can purchase 5 or 6 units from other manufacturers for the price of 4 Radiant units with comparable specs. For my money I would take the savings and have a spare unit in my possession for use as needed

I agree witeen staying with Miles, but I am a former fan of Touch Dynamics. The TD guys are the most co-operative and hardest working support techs I know. And that is a result of customer commitent horrible problems with the units a few years back. I have been staying with POSiFlex with no issues.

We have been using posiflex as well, they have a 3 year warranty with overnight swap as an option.

We use the 6200 series bundle includes 1G of Ram and XP Pro and the built in MSR. a 3 year swap warranty from posiflex.
