Is there a good template for quanity list reports that shows the actual items available? It seems like the most obvious column to display but it doesn't show because when the item is "committed" then it shows the committed column but doesn't have a final column that displays a "0" inventory (because once it is committed in work order, the item is truly not available for sales and should be "0").

You need to make sure that you change your view in OE.
View | Current View | Show All Messages would have worked.
