Sales recorded in future dates.

Feb 25, 2007 3 Replies

In January the RMS customer somehow changed the system date to February. He did not notice that sales in January were recorded in Feb. In February he calls me, the RMS Partner, telling me the system is recording the sales incorrectly and he wants me or Microsoft to give him a new computer. (In a very unpleasant tone) Yelling at me. So I get the proof of what happened. See Microsoft Dynamics Support Incident Number 8810939 : Sales recorded in future dates.

I had a thought about this that I want to share with you. I sell a software package, Garagekeeper 2000; it is a DOS based program that has a internal date. So the user must end the day and reopen with a new date. If the user enters a date that is more that 3 days later than the last closing date the software issues an extra large warning. This might be something to consider for RMS. Perhaps, if a new transaction is dated more than 3 days later that the previous transaction, a warning could be built into the code. Well, one other solution is to restrict the users permissions so that they are NOT ALLOWED to change the date of their computer. In other words, the customer is responsible for their own "dumb" actions, and how can you possibly take the heat for something stupid that THEY did. My 1.14 cents worth. Mike

Being in retail, I can testify to the fact that:

THAT'S JUST THE WAY SOME CUSTOMERS ARE .....

Once they buy something from you anything that happens after is your fault (no matter how dumb they are) !!
