Shipping Issue

Have you tried contacting zFirm to see what they say?

Our shipping is set up to calculate shipping cost based on weight. Most of the time it works without a hitch. It has become a issue when a customer orders 3 of the same item or something like that, that the shipping cost is way to high.

Is there a way to adjust the shipping cost, or charge shipping after the order has been processed.

For example, this would be the optimal situation:

1.. I get the order, it gets processed. 2.. It gets taken back to our shipping department 3.. They box up the order, put it on the scale, and get the shipping cost from Shiprush. 4.. The shipping department is now able to add on the correct shipping cost to the invoice and either add it on to the original total or charge the credit card again for the shipping. Is anyone else out there doing anything like this? I need some help ASAP.

Thanks, Nick

Most of our business is done via the phone or web sales, with roughly 100 orders per day. We use ShipRush FedEx as our 3rd party shipping program.

It sounds like you need distribution software rather than retail software. Most distribution software employs a pick, pack, ship and invoice process.

Ever bought a cellular phone accessory on eBay? The shipping is often more than the item. There is a reason for that and it doesn't stop people from ordering.

Do yourself a favor and change to shipping based on invoice total. That's what all the mailorder companies I order from do. You can figure out what your average percent of invoice is by analyzing your transactions and comparing to actual shipping rates. Then set up a shipping table to reflect this based on price ranges of the total invoice. In all cases you want to charge more than actual shipping charges (shipping AND handling). This also gives you the ability to charge a mininum to handle small orders. If rates go up, adjust your table.

If you've been selling a 100 orders a day it shouldn't be too hard to figure out some price ranges your average orders fall into. 0-25, 26-100, 101-500,

501+ or whatever. Next find the average shipping charge for those ranges and add a handling fee (time factor, box and packing materials, return costs).

This makes it easy for you and the customer. > Most of our business is done via the phone or web sales, with roughly 100
