Using Givex Card in place of actual money back

Is anyone else out there using Givex Card for this purpose in RMS?

Our business is setup as a non-profit organization with no refund after the purchase process. Since, we started the Givex gift card program my management has raise the question of using the Givex gift card as a means for allowing the stores to do refund back to a Givex gift card.

From Givex Support: "If a customer comes in wanted to do a return rather than returning cash you can put that amount (return) on the gift card which means the store won't loose any funds which have already been collected and you guarantee your goods moving since they do have to purchase back in your store again. The way to process this through givex is as follows. If the customer already has a gift card with Givex simply do an increment for the amount being returned. If the cust doesn't have a gift card with Givex you would have to activate a new card with the amount being returned."

My management is now wanting to know if RMS will allow the store employee's to complete the return and to apply the return balance to the Givex Gift Card in on transaction? Plus, is there a why in RMS data structure to track everytime this is down out in the stores?

From Givex Support: "You will have to contact your RMS dealer to find out if you can do the return and Givex transaction all at one time or if multiple transactions are needed."

Ed,

I think you are asking about tracking returns, whether it has to do with Givex or not.

Create a Reason Code in Manager and change your POS to ask why something is being returned. When you create your Reason Codes, you need to select where the returned product should go, i.e. back to stock, offline inventory, etc.

Ed, Yes, you can sell an item on the same transaction as the return. You just have to watch the quantities - in return mode, the quantity will default to -1 (indicating a return).

I think there may be a problem doing this if you recall the transaction for return, but you can definately have positive and negative quantities in the same transaction.
