Here's the situation: Customer purchases multiple items and tenders credit card. Few days later the customer wishes to return an item from the many purchased for a refund. Cashier finds transaction via Recall Transaction For Return mode. When the Tender Screen is displayed the total purchased credit card amount is automatically displayed in which the cashier has to delete that amount and rekey just the amount for the item being returned (plus tax). This creates user errors and confusion. Has anyone found a fix or workaround so that just the amount of the item (plus tax) being returned is displayed properly?

I know exactly what you are talking about, and I don't think there's a quick fix for it. I would love to hear about it if there is. The workaround is to not recall the initial transaction and simply return the one item by itself - but don't use the minus key on the number pad or the system goes into 'return mode' and does all kids of weird stuff. Use the 'dash' minus above the 'P' key and all is well.
Stupid RMS. It's the little things about RMS that really bother me.
Even worse, now I read that v2.0 is really nothing more the v1.3R + hotfixes and a few new features - features that probably work about as smoothly as recalled transactions for partial returns.
Sad, isn't it?
Tom
I've never really understood why you would want to recall a transaction of many items to return just one anyway. It's much easier to just hit Ctrl-f4 and return the single item. Craig
By recalling the transaction is there not some type of link or reference between the return and the original transaction? If this is the case does the system expose it anywhere outside of the actual database?
