SQL Server Installation

I have a customer who wants to use a DB larger than 2 GB, but this is only going to be a on a 2-lane store. Is there a particular edition of SQL Server that would be betters suited for this? Also, are there any particulars in how I would go about installing this? Would only one of these need the client side of this, or will they both need the full install of whatever version of SQL I would use?

My data is over 3G and I am Running SQL 2000 standerd Personal Addition with no problem. You just remove the old one and install new one. It was very easy for me I did in one minute. But It cost me about $600. and I also heard

1.3 has already 4GB > I have a customer who wants to use a DB larger than 2 GB, but this is only

RMS 1.3 SUPPORTS SQL Server 2005 Express edition, but as far as I know it's not included on the install CD - that still loads MSDE with SP4. You can download SQL 2005 express for free from

SQL 2005 express supports up to 4GB databases. The 1.3 readme includes some info on useing SQL 2005 - should be enough to get you started.

I would install the same version everywhere, just for ease of maintenance. If it's the transaction and journal tables that are making the DB so large, you might be able to use MSDE on the registers, but why? If it's the item count that's driving size, you're going to need

2005 everywhere anyway...
