Store OPs Intermittent, Prints receipt but sale not registered

RMS v1.3.0203 Occassionally when finishing a sale transaction the printer creates the receipt and then RMS crashes with message stating that the Database connection has timed out. Whilst the receipt has been printed there is no record of sale in Store OPs or in SO manager / Journal. THe database connects at al other times without delay
