Printing to Multiple Printers

I would be interested in a solution as well. Did you ever figure out a work around for something like this?

I'm not sure if this will work as I've never tried it, but you can make a custom button for reprint. Have your second printer set to not print receipts but have it 'Journal Receipts from this Printer' Then after you tender the sale and get back to the login screen, if it is one that you would like to go to the warehouse printer, click on the Custom Reprint Button. This should bring up the option to print from printer 1 or printer

1. Select printer 2 and you're good to go. Hope this helps. Craig

Thanks for your input Craig. I'm not sure exactly how to create a custom reprint button, but I figured I would give your method a try for now and the cashier's could just hit "Shift+F11" to reprint.

When I actually tried to make the change that you mentioned and I hit OK, I get an error: "Insufficient key column information for updating or refreshing". I'm running SQL server 2000 w/sp4 installed. From the references I've found, this error seems to pertain to server 2000 pre sp4. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if I need to make a different change.

I currently have receipt printer 1 setup to print full page receipt at counter. Receipt printer 2 was set to "Do not printer receipts" and it's not journaling.

To make your suggested change, I left Receipt Printer 2 set to "Do not print receipts" and clicked the checkbox to journal receipts from this printer. I then selected a receipt format. I also tried various ways of inputing the Windows/Opos device name. Ultimately, everytime I click OK, it gives me that error and none of the changes are saved.

Thanks for the response Jeff. I did just re-index the store database last Thursday. I don't think any errors were found. I still need to check and re-index the HQ database, but that shouldn't affect the store I wouldn't think (although they are on the same server).

Also, thanks for the heads up on that knowledge base article. Seems pretty straight forward.

I wanted to share my experience on this subject with the group.

For our store to print to a receipt printer 100% of the time and a "warehouse" printer only a few times a day, I needed to do the following:

2.) Within the Receipt Printer 2 tab, tell RMS to "Journal receipts from this printer".

4.) I also had to setup the 2nd receipt printer as my default printer from within windows, otherwise when I reprinted a receipt, no matter which receipt printer I picked, it would go the the default windows printer.

It would be nice to not have to change the default printer, since any PO's or other store manager reports will automatically default to that printer, but it's the way it needed to be for us. Maybe it's just our system, but that's what needed to be done to faciliate this.
