To Serialize or Not?

Another question for you guys to help with if you can...I have an item "Jagermeister" and this bottle contains a barcode...then at the same time it's sold to me in a gift set with glasses, and that contains another barcode...is there anyway that I can combine the inventory and say I have a total of 12 bottles weather they are part of a gift set or not? Sometimes I break the gift set...when I run low on the shelf. I am hopeing that there is an easy way for me to track this, instead of manually each time I break up the gift set.

If you don't care about the glasses at all, this would be an Alias - the 'regular' bottle and the 'gift pack' are the same item and you have 2 barcodes that both point to it.

What if you broke your gift sets out to the indiviual items when you receive them and create a kit for the gift set? Then when you need to sell one bottle out of the set, just break one of the kits.You could also use assemblies to do this and sell that assembly every time you want to sell the gift set complete. "V
