I have a client who buys and sells a lot of items they want to set up Quickbook to use SmartScan Barcode reader so they can scan directly into Quickbooks. The problem the Company files are keep on a server and accessed by all users. They take a laptop on the road with them and want to scan item into Quickbooks, they are on the road days and sometimes weeks. During this time there are users in the office as well making changes to the server version of the data file. How do they get the file on the laptop and the server in sync once the laptop is back in the office? Is there some sort of program that will combine the two company files and not make duplicate entries?

Assuing you mean keeping the TRANSACTIONS intact in both, I wonder if this referenced product would be able to do that? I doubt it. Isn't that product one that knows which **file** might be upleveled, but wouldn't have a clue in actually syncing the transactions between the two? I think you want something along the lines of Pocket Quicken which understands the Quicken files at a transaction-level, and can do the syncing. But of course, Pocket Quicken probably doesn't "do" Quickbooks.
What about FolderShare? (with encryption).
I would suggest posting your question direct to the QuickBooks newsgroup (not Quicken).

I have not had a need for data synch or transfer, so I could not comment on which utility might suit your needs.
