I would like to re-program the touchscreen to show my departments as default. Also when i select a department I would like to show all cagogaries related to that department. I know how to assign keys but this will not solve the problem.
You might want to take a look at Drilldown.htm. This is an HTML Add-in that is included with the initial install of RMS. You can set it up to run from a Custom POS Button. It allows you to drill down from Dapartment to Category to Items and may fit your needs. You might use this in conjunction with the touchscreen keyboard.

We also have an add on RR Touch that makes the RMS much more touch friendly. If you want to evaluate it please let me know by email and I will send you an FTP link to download.
It's installed by default with RMS Store Operations.
