Tracking sales source in RMS

We need to be able to assign each sale to the source - a particular cruise ship or hotel. Ideally we would like to have a drop down box that the cashier can select from during the sale. We can have up to 10 cruise ships and around 20 hotels. The cruise ship list changes daily. We thought about using the reference / comments box to type a 3 digit code in but there is no way to ensure that the correct code is typed. Once we have the information we need to track the total by source per day in order to pay commissions.

Any ideas?

Use Headquarters: Each Ship and each hotel is a separate store and you can see their individual or combined sales from HQ.

Or am I missing the intent - are you at a single location and the customers are either passengers on a ship or guests at a hotel?

Kerri,

How about creating a Sales Rep for each ship and/or hotel? Then you can assign a sales rep per sale or per line of per sale.

Thanks Jeff, Glenn,

We have 30 stores and the customers are cruise ship passengers, hotel guests and locals (> Kerri,

You could develop a custom dll addon, that uses the AddItem Hook, test to determine if the item that is being added needs to track the cruise ship or hotel then display the drop down list. The cashier makes there selection and the custom dll adds the selection to the items comment automatically. You can then run a report based on the Item Comment field to determine sales source. This could be a very simply addon. Probably take a few hours to develop based on your needs. If you don't have a programmer and your RMS Partner can't provide this for you, my company or one of the other Certified RMS Partners could do this for you.

That can be created as an add-in. Check with your reseller - I can't think of any known add-in that have that functionality, but it wouldn't be all that hard to create - the only wrinkle would be if you want to control the cruise list from HQ...

List could be tracked by a separate table in each store database, from HQ a SQL worksheet could be downloaded to update the lists when changes are made.

We have a merketing data capture as part of our store misc utillity. You can define for example: Hotel and then list of hotels; Cruis and list of all crusies etc... At the end of each sales the system prompts for the marketing source and you can select the marketing source which is kept in a sperate table and fields. There is also a sales analysis report by marketing code.
