We have recently installed RMS and have found that some items have been entered into the inventory without being allocated departments. This causes us all sorts of problems and I was wondering if there was a way to disallow entries without departments.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Rich,
RMS does not have a built in feature to force a user to select a dept before saving the new item they've just created. There are some add-ons available that provide feature plus other great functionality making it easier to create and manage items.
If you are interested call me so we can further discuss your needs. ===============Thanks,

There is no option to force dept assignment for new items in RMS, but you can quickly view unassigned entries by running Manager, Reports, Items, Price List or Quantity List, OK. The unassigned items will float to the top of the report. Double-click on Item Lookup Code to fix each item. If you have a long list, press F5 periodically to refresh the list and remove the ones you've fixed.
If adding items without depts becomes a problem, try our Power Ops add-in. Dept is required for all new items. If you'd like to require Category as well, enable the checkbox option in Setup.
