Well, I believe it is open, but you can do so with the password, apply the security rules of SQL Server 2005 MSDE where the complex password is enable, this give some kind of control on password. you have to write something call store procedure programming where you will interface your own API to enable this feature.

hello thank you for your response. This is my scenario This customer wants to use scan in cards, using barcodes "User Id " in a barcode format and then the "Password" in a barcode format. So at present if by mistake the cashier were to scan the password in the USER ID field the password would no become readable and the cashier can now act dishonestly. Hence the reason for wanting to make this field unreadable.
Can this be done

you can try to create a barcode with auto enter. i think it is barcode 128 auto so you can then define the username and password in one barcode. the downside of this is when the cashier is clever he can scan this on a notepad and read bth the username and password
