Work Orders, Sales Taxes and Modifying Forms

Nov 12, 2009 0 Replies

Hey everyone,

I am currently helping a client implement Microsoft POS, and have some random questions.

1) Is there a way to have the software default to a work order as opposed to a sales transaction? I tried adding a task pad button using the POS function "convert to work order" but that gives an error message. Also, the software defaults to the "Customer by Number" POS function every time a user logs in; can I have it run a task pad instead?

2) Also, can I set sales taxes per customer? Most of our customers do not pay any sales taxes (exempt boxes checked on customer page). For the ones that do, there are two relevant tax rates; the 7.5% from the state, and the

2% hospitality tax from the city. Any entity that buys for personal consumption pays the full 9.5%; any business that buys in order to cater / serve does not pay the 2%. However, in order to sell at any sales tax other than the company default, I have to set it per item and not per customer. I tried the tax location feature and it did not seem to solve my problem.

3) I am also having difficulty modifying the full page forms that are generated by Microsoft POS. How do I get to the actual XML file?

Thank you for your help.
