Sales/Work Orders and/or layaways in MSPOS 2.0? Am I an idiot?

Running: MS POS 2.0 30-day TRIAL I manage a small retail & repair shop that often takes SALES/WORK ORDERS with DEPOSITS which are then finalized and made into PURCHASES several days later. In my present POS, Quickbooks POS 4.0 (which I hate), I just make a sales order and then convert it to sales transaction at completion.

I have been UNABLE to find this type of transaction ANYWHERE in MSPOS 2.0. I search HELP for sales orders and all I get is PURCHASE ORDERS info. I search LAYAWAY and NOTHING comes up.

Am I an IDIOT for not knowing where this most basic of functions resides? Surely this POS 2.0 must handles Sales Orders... or is this only RMS?

Please tell me I'm an idiot and show me where this is, as I truly dread the thought of having to abandon MSPOS 2.0 for the new Quickbooks POS.

Thanks, Rmpl

Rmpl,

MSPOS 2.0 does not support multi-stage transactions with deposits, such as work orders or layaways. You are correct that this is only in RMS.

WOW! I am stunned such a BASIC function is not in POS 2.0. For such a small business as this, RMS is too $$$ for justification, let alone the COMPLEXITY of it.

It appears Microsoft has missed this niche of the market and I will have to stay with Quickbooks POS. I had high hopes for this and have been waiting for

2.0 to come out for MONTHS. Bummed out and disappointed are some good words for what I feel right now...

Based on my feedback, my boss was ready to buy MSPOS on day one, now I am really glad we waited for the TRIAL version to get to us...

Have a nice day all as I probably won't be back... Have to post more questions at the Quickbooks forums...

Rmpl,

If you stack MSPOS up against QBPOS BASIC I think you'll see that MSPOS is a pretty good value. QBPOS only supports Work Orders and Layaways in their PRO version which is >$1000. If you stack QBPOS PRO up against RMS feature by feature, I think you'll see we have a pretty good value prop there too.
