Sales tax & work-orders, back-orders

When I recall work orders or back orders, the sales tax box is not being set, and therefore sales tax is not being charged unless we catch it before tendoring.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

TD,

Are you using the same customer to place these items on a BO/WO/etc? Like Special Order Customer or anything. Make sure that, that customer is set to taxable.

Thanks for replying, Jeff.

I use real customers for these work orders, etc, not a Special Order customer. When I add new customers, I don't explicitly set them to be taxable, but if I just tender a sale with a customer set, sales tax is being set correctly It's only when recalling saved transactions that I'm seeing the problem.

Customers are NOT being set to be taxable, but I haven't seen such an option. I am familiar with one to mark them as tax empt, and that one is NOT set. If there is a taxable option, I'd appreciate being informed as to where to find it.

Thanks,

Malcolm

Malcolm,

Are you making up the item(s) at the POS? Are you sure that the item is set to the appropriate Item tax when the item is created?

You can set your taxes based on items or customers. For most, setting by item works. Some places where they have different taxes based on where the customer lives or has product shipped to them, you would set by customer. SO Manager | File | Configuration | Sales Taxes tab

Jeff,

Thanks again, but you seem to be missing one important thig - sales tax is being calculated correctly when I tender an item normally. It's only when being recalled that I'm having this problem. Yes, the items are being set as taxable. And I'm having a problem with every item being recalled, not just isolated incidents.

I'll poke around in the setup / configuration areas. Obviously, my experience is not typical, so I've probably set, or not set, something somewhere.

Cheers,

Malcolm

Malcolm,

Does this happen for all cashiers? Try picking up a WO/BO using a cashier with Administrator rights.

If this is OK, go back and change the cashier's rights to allow to change tax status in each cashier's properties.

BTW, what RMS version are you running?
