I need to figure out how to add a fuel surcharge of 14% to an invoice. It will need to calculate on the original pre-tax amount and do it automaticlly on certain invoices when needed. Is this possible? How do you do it?
thanks

Yes it is possible. It is done by using a combination of items classified as subtotals and other charges. Look up the word surchage in the QB help for details.
Partially possible, yes. How QB will know when it is needed and when not to do so automatically is beyond my ken of how you would do that.
To do the surcharge, create an Item and make it the proper percentage and then enter a subtotal item, then the surcharge item.
I don't see there's a way to automate it other than to memorized the resulting invoice.

The OP probably isn't looking for the program to insert subtotal and the surcharge lines automatically. All he is looking for is a method that will perform the math automatically, which it certainly can do.
You have? Well enlighten us!
