Anyone have experience Using Act with QB?

Hi I tired this a few months ago and was somewhat successful until I ran into version problems--had to back out as when I went to QB 2006, ACT was not ready to support it. While I don't have 1000's of customers, I have not fared well with the duplicate data entry needed to keep both of these essential applications current and synchronized.

Act is something I live by and carry on Palm while QB is just as essential for reasons business and banking.

The link between the two allowed the Palm to carry current data for QB meaning that things like current invoices/balances were available.

I only wish that either/both applications carried some of the other's features.

I have not gone back to Act for the/any update on the Synch software as it was not a fun time dealing with them and their new product cannot hold a candle, performance-wise, to their previous versions.

However, some users are or may be more adventurous than I and I am looking for experience from someone/anyone who is using Act 2006 and QB Pro 2006 and linking them together before I go through that hell again.

Given all the above, is anyone doing the ACT/QB Link? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

I could also recant some of my boring experiences with the situation, but only if asked.

Thanks In Advance. Joe

If you find an Act6 and QB 2006 link I'd like to know as well. QB Customer Manager needs some more work before it's ready for prime time. Although I will give them credit. The GM of QBCM e-mailed me directly regarding some feedback I had posted and later called me to see specifically what was going on with it.

The main issues I have with QBCM at this point are:

  1. It doesn't support resolutions greater than 96dpi.
  2. You can't print an envelope directly from it.
  3. You can't do a multiple criteria search on date.
  4. You can't really customize the home page. There are a couple of "w>Hi

To me, QB itself seems be lacking in the searching arena. It is not the easiest or the best to use.

The Act Link that I used prior to moving to Act6 did not do the things I needed, which was to eliminate double data entry and to give an attempt at having QB data in the Act DB. Some QB data did make it though.

There was some manual processing to be done in order to have the link function.

The biggest thing I noticed was that, when an appointment was entered into the Palm, it was with the actual Contact's record instead of with mine, which was very helpful. Because of the additional data on the Palm, I would have had to purchase a new device as mine just did not have the horsepower to deal with it.

I could have lived with the shortcomings as long as the double data entry and the Palm were moving in the right direction. Act people told me that the link for 2006 would be out 'soon'---I am waiting. When it does, I just hope the thing doesn't paralyze my PC, which can just about handle the new Act, - a dog, performance-wise. They tell me it is because it is SQL instead of D-Base, to which I responded with a 'who cares' as a poor performer can be written in any format---a dog is a dog.

Anyway, Act is a way of life for me. From what I read about QBCM, it is not there yet. Your list sort of confirms it.

Nice that they talked with you.....and it did not sound like you had to pay for it!
