"Downgrading" For Enterprise 2008 to Pro 2008?

Hi --

We evaluated the 30 day demo of Quick Books Enterprise 2008 and decided there were not enough added benefits to justify the cost so we are going with Quick Books Pro 2008. However, when I opened the data file in Pro I got an error saying I could not open an Enterprise data file in Pro. Is there a way to downgrade my data file so I can use it in Pro?

Thanks

Rich

Enterprise is not backwards compatible with a lower version. So once a file has been upgraded or created in Enterprise you are stuck.

You have a couple of options:

-Use a data transfer

to transferyour data from Enterprise to Pro/Premier. The data transfer utility does not transfer all types of transactions such as payroll or the subscriptions to various services such as theQB merchant account or QB payroll service that are set up in the file.

-Use a service sucha as QuickBooksRepair.com to convert the actual QBES file to QB Pro/Premier and keep all that info.

-Start from scratch. This is your cheapest option. Since you have been using QB for 30 days it may be fastest and certainly cheaper to rekey your data into the lower version.

Restore the backup made just before the file was unpgraded to ES and manually re-enter the transactions entered in the last 30 days or transfer them.
