getting rid of file choices at opening

Hi - does anyone know how to get rid of the displayed file choices at opening? It seems to retain them forever even if it's an old file and an old path.

Thanks!

"Randy Starkey":

In QB2006 and prior, in your QB application folder is a file named qbw.ini. It has a section

[MRUFiles_standard_stratum] file1=... file2=... ...

Just delete or edit the "fileN=" entries.

In QB2007 and later the qbw.ini is found in: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks 2007

(on Vista it would be: \ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2007)

OK. Thanks both!

I don't know if true but have been told that in Vista any folder under \ProgramData is a Read-only folder. If it is true, the INI file could not be manipulated.

Oh yeah, I think you're right about the path I listed. In fact, I think ProgramData is hidden as well. But I'm pretty sure there is a path under "Public" that points to the same location and that the QB installer sets read-write access for all users. I'll double-check and report back.

Actually, I was right the first time. On Vista, the root "ProgramData" folder is indeed read-only for standard users. But the QB installer sets full access rights to everyone on the \ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2007 sub-folder. So files there and below can be edited.

Since the ProgramData folder is hidden as well (which seems dumb), the Windows Explorer option to "Show Hidden Files and Folders" has to be set in order to get at it.

Thanks for clarifying.
