Backup file name

I use Quicken Deluxe 2009. My backup files are named:

Qdata_20090528_20090716_20090723_20090725_20090731_etc. etc. etc.

How in the world can I get rid of all this junk in the file name.

Date modified is all I need when I look at a backup file.

The "Add the date to file name box is NOT checked".

Also, I want to overwrite the old backup files with the current backup file. They seem to be appending every time I do a backup.;l

Thanks,

Don

You may have been restoring backup file sets. The restored file set then may include those dates. If you keep doing that (backing up with attached date, then restoring) this would explain what you see. I don't see how this could have happened without the aforementioned setup.

You can alsways save the curent file set (or any other) with a new name, as long as it isn't one that is already in use. I would suggest to make it Q_Data. Make sure it gets to a regular data directory, not the backup directory. Then you could archive all the backups to a CD or DVD, and delete them from the hard drive. Just make sure you archive everything ...

I saved the file with a new name as you suggested to Q_Data and now I am happy with the results. Thank you.
