Running QB Pro 2006 with non-Admin Rights

I understand that with some registry tweeks it is possible to run QB Pro

2006 with non-Admin rights. If this is so, I'm wondering if QB Pro 2006 could be made to work correctly with Windows Vista. Just wondering what the power users here might think about that.

Thanks a lot. Happy Holidays, everyone!

QB Pro 2006 *does* work in Vista with R8. I had it working fine, including downloading transactions in Vista Ultimate RC1 through RTM as long as I was updated to R8. However, this was when upgraded over XP. A clean install (requiring a fresh install of QB) was another matter. While it installed fine, I was unable to get QB to download (even when running as admin and in XP SP2 compat mode), therefore, I couldn't update it to R8. You may have a different experience. I may have been able to get '06 working and downloading had I spent more time with it. I'm running QB Pro 2007 in RTM Ultimate now. Works fine.

Thanks for your reply, James. Most interesting. I thought I'd seen some hacks to the registry that made QB Pro 6 work with non-admin users. However, that was with XP. Who knows what will happen with Vista. All in all, I'm wondering if Vista will be worth the effort. I like a lot of the features of Vista, but XP has performed well. Eventually we will all be in a Vista environment. I'm not sure the upgrade is really worth the hassle at this time. I really appreciate your comments.
