Customer Phone # Should be Displayed at POS (but isn't)

Once a customer is selected, their address is displayed at the POS -- but their phone number isn't. This a ridiculous omission, IMO. We contact clients by phone 99% of the time, with the other 1% being via email.

Please add the display of phone number (& and cell and email!) to the customer info displayed in the POS screen.

This kind of omission suggests to me that the software is not being tested in realistic retail conditions. It might technically WORK right, but it's not performing how retailers need. Perhaps a better testing method is needed to get "the retail reality pill". I know, that's what posting suggestions are for. I guess I just feel frustrated at the sheer number of them that I have had to post.

you can use the HTML part of pos to show such additional information.

That's a pretty vague response. Can you (or anybody) please elaborate? How would one do this?

Thanks.

You can configure POS to show an HTML window at the top of the screen. The file is called Status.html and is found in the RMS directory. I don't know how to get the phone number displayed on it though. The file I'm using is from DRS. You can download a 30 day trial of their tool box and you will get a Status file for free but it doesn't have phone # on it. RMS also comes with a default status file. Maybe someone here knows how to get the phone # displayed. I don't understand why phone # would be so important though since the customer is in front of you when you have them selected at POS and it's displayed on the main customer tab for easy viewing when looking through customers. In the current RMS you can view the customer information when it is selected in POS with Shift+F7 (and exit with Esc). In HTML window you can't add the phone number by the information I have. Below are the customer properties I know that you can use in HTML, if you want to see a phone number you have to use some other field or to make a database trigger that copies the PhoneNumber after update to some other field you can use.

Customer properties: AccountBalance, AccountDateDueType, AccountGracePeriod, AccountMinimumPayment, AccountNumber, AccountOpened, AccountReceivables, AccountReceivablesAppliedCredits, AccountReceivablesTotalCredit, AccountReceivablesTotalDue, AccountReceivablesTotalPayments, AccountTypeID, AssessFinanceCharges, CashierID, CreditLimit, CurrentDiscount, CustomCaptionDate1 (...5), CustomCaptionNumber1 (...5), CustomCaptionText1 (...5), CustomDate1 (...5), CustomNumber1 (...5), CustomText1 (...5), DaysOverdue, DefaultShippingServiceID, EmailAddress, Employee, FirstName, GlobalCustomer, HasChargeAccount, HomeAddress, ID, LastClosingDate, LastName, LastVisit, Loaded, Name, Notes, PreviousAccountBalance, PriceLevel, PrimaryShipToID, PurchaseLimit_Enabled, PurchaseLimit_StartDate, PurchaseLimit_TotalPoints, PurchaseLimit_TotalPurchases, PurchaseLimit_TotalUnits, SalesRepID, ShipToAddress, ShipToID, TaxExempt, TaxNumber, TotalSales, TotalSavings, TotalVisits.
