INSTALLING THE UPDATES FOR QBPRO 2001

now i am at the point of its having asked me if i want it to do the updates which i told it yes. after it seemed to be doing that to disc, it suddenly gave me the message that i did not have authorization to open these files and to see my administrator. sorry that is me and i can't imagine what it wants me to do now. sorry to be such a nincompoop.

**I now have the updates but there are still comments that will not let them restore.

i was wondering if i might have done a custom set up when i initially installed the QBPRO 2001 but did an express this time if that could cause a problem. AND is there anything short of uninstalling and starting all over to try out that theory??? also, is there any way i could back the files on my cd into the QBPRO

2001 ? i know there are some very clever folks on this forum who know more than i can even know what to question. Can somebody please help me??

When you re-installed the software, you went back to Release 1. You need to update the program (which you are aware of) but the reason it won't update through the program is because Intuit no longer supports your version. It's too old. Click on the following link and download the manual update file for your version to your desktop and then click on it to install the file.

I would keep a copy of this file along with your Install CD for the program in case you need it again. Also be sure to go to File, Register QuickBooks, and enter your old registration # on the Register By Phone screen there. Intuit won't re-register your program again.
