Is there a program to repair data??

I lost hard drive. Had to send to specialists. Major expense because I wanted the quickbooks data. I have the files but they won't open. They are messed up somehow. Is there a program to repair data files???

I believe you have to send it to Intuit and they will attempt to fix it for a fee.

Nice big fee (hourly) and I hear it takes up to 25 days for Intuit.

You could try

Free if they can't fix. My guess is if it doesn't open that in the crash it was overwritten with garbage. That means load the backup and get busy entering everything from it forward.

If you are now crying because you don't have a backup, well... There are two kinds of people in the world, those who have a backup and those who commit suicide. Everyone should make two copies, one for the office and one for offsite so if the building burns you still have your data.

As others have posted, Intuit will try the repair for a fee. There are other programs out there.

But, let's hope it is something simple. I mean, you lost your hard drive, so you paid to restore data files, and then you re-installed the program, right? Is it possible the 'restored' data files are a different version than the re-installed program? What error message do you get when you try to open the files?
