Memo on Journal Entries

Dec 22, 2006 5 Replies

I've been using QuickBooks for several years now and haven't found a way to print the Memo column on JE's.

Does anyone here know how to set that up, if it's possible?

Thanks,

Dee

What version of Quickbooks are you using? I have QB 2005-2007 and the memo field is printed when I print the JEs. Unfortunately, the columns are all squished together especially the memo column. You could also run a report on the JE that includes the memo column.

You can also print in landscape mode and avoid the squishies.

I did that and it did not change the "squishies" from JE screen. Its better to do it from the report menu, I guess so that you can control the column layout.

If you enter your lifes story in the memo field, which the program allows you to do , then you will end up with squished text. The program does not have the ability to wrap a long line of text to fill up several lines. The following are typical examples.

Non-squished memo:

To record depreciation for 2006.

Squished memo:

To record depreciation for the year per the schedule I prepared on June 20th

2006 after eating lunch with Jill, who is a bitch by the way. The schedule is located in the top draw of the file cabinet next to the water cooler next to Karen's office, who is also a bitch.
