New install of QB2005 causes error

A new install of QB 2005 Pro on a Windows 2003 Standard server causes the following error after install:

ERROR: Quickbooks failed to load a required file. Please reinstall Quickbooks.

I have tried reinstalling twice and also tried to run it in Windows XP compatibility mode and still no go.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

1st, I'd make sure the machine is up to date in regards to windows updates, then make sure it's virus & spyware free, then, log in as the Administrator:
  1. Uninstall QuickBooks - through Add/Remove Programs Control Panel
  2. Reboot & log in as the administrator again[a]
  3. Search for the Intuit folder under the Common files folder - rename it to something like: "OldIntuit"
  4. Close any other programs, disable anti-virus software
  5. Reinstall QuickBooks to a clean directory - something like: "C:\Program Files\Intuit\QBPRO 2005"
  6. After install - reboot the machine - [a] then go here:
    formatting link
Download the update ... Install the update.8. Try to launch QuickBooks.9. If it doesn't launch - go to Add/Remove Programs - highlight QuickBooks -click on Change/Remove and select the "Repair" option10. After repairing, try it again ... Does it work? You're not getting any more of an error message are you?

The 2003 server was a new install with all updates.

I'll try the QB manual update and repair, if needed, and update with any new error msgs.

Thanks.
