Question about upgrade patches to QB?

I have a copy of QB Pro 2001. I bought and installed it several years ago and have downloaded the various updates and patches over that time.

I have since reinstalled my PC and have reinstalled the QB software. I have attempted to download all available updates.

QB Pro does not seem to accept the QBW file that I had been using before I reinstalled my computer. I get the following error when I try to load my company file:

"This data is from a newer version of QuickBooks. It cannot be used".

Any thoughts around getting QB to work?

Chris

Did you do a CTRL-1 before you reinstall QuickBooks? That will give you the release level that you were at, and that will be your target level when doing a new installation. At the very least, do a CTRL-1 now, and get an idea of what release level you are at.

The message you are getting is indicative of not having the correct update. Maybe the automatic didn't work, maybe you will have to do it manually,

Does not matter, the only patch that would be availble at this point in time is the last one released for that version. I'm a bit confused as to what the OP means by "attempted to download all available updates".

Gary and Allan -

Thank you for your suggestions. I tried this, however have run into another problem.

I located the QBW32.exe file and attempted to install the release you pointed me to. I get this error now:

"Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since the file contents do not match."

Any thoughts for the next step?

Chris

I believe the site that was given was for the US version not the Canadian. If you use the Canadian version then that may be the problem.
