Quickbooks Premier

Dec 29, 2005 10 Replies

Hello all,

I am currently looking at quickbooks to purchase for my company. I know that Quickbooks Pro does not have the ability to have a balance forwared on invoices but it does when you create statements. Is this different in Premier 2006? Is there a product that quickbooks offers that gives you the ability to customize an invoice with a balance forwarded.

Thank you in advance

Angi

I know of no Quickbooks product that will give you that information on an invoice, only statements.

Balance forward on an invoice? Please explain.

Do you mean how much the customer owes from prior invoices at the time THIS invoice was created?

Yes. If a customer does not pay and invoice the very next invoice that is printed will have the past due invoices total on there as well.

Angi

That's what I thought you meant. Never heard of such a thing.

If you know how much the customer owes, you could include that fact as a memo. Maybe:

"Your account now stands at $123.45"

Or you could create a single statement for that customer.

Statements - only option in QB. Unless they make a power/water/phone utility version I'm not aware of.

I believe that customer balance info is available as a footer field by customizing the standard invoice forms within QB. I just opened the customize editor and total balance, total customer balance and total job balance are available options. I don't use this on my invoices, so can't speak from experience. I'm sure that someone who has used these fields in a customized form will speak up.

Also, if the invoice amount is the same and recurring, just use the statements instead of an invoice.

Hope this helps.

I have just looked at my QB2006 Premier and there is a field that you can add to an invoice template that will show the total customer balance due. I guess Intuit was listening to people, because that has been a request for some time. Does the Pro version have this?

Gary

The balance due is just for that invoice. This has been around for years. Even Simple Start has this.

Look again. On the Premier version, under Customize Template, Footer, are two NEW options, Customer Total Balance, and Job Total Balance. This is in addition to Balance Due, which has been around for years. Even Simple Start.

Gary

They are not new footer options, they have been around for years.
