QuickBooks Pro skips check numbers when auto-generating check number for new check.

How to fix ?

Fixed by manually typing the correct check number. Then, auto check number generator continues correctly from there.

If QuickBooks Pro is skipping check numbers when auto-generating check numbers for new checks, there could be a few possible causes for this issue:

  1. The check number format is not set correctly: Go to "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Checking" > "Company Preferences" and make sure the check number format is set correctly.
  2. The check number is already in use: Go to "Lists" > "Chart of Accounts" > select the appropriate account > click on "Use Register" and check if the check number is already in use.
  3. The check number is not set to increment automatically: Go to "Lists" > "Chart of Accounts" > select the appropriate account > click on "Use Register" and check that the check number is set to increment automatically in the "Number" field.
  4. The check number is corrupted: Go to "File" > "Utilities" > "Rebuild Data" which may fix the issue if the check number is corrupted.
  5. The company file is damaged: in this case, you will have to restore a backup of your company file or contact QuickBooks support for assistance.

If none of these solutions work, It's best to contact QuickBooks support for further assistance. They will be able to better diagnose and troubleshoot the issue based on the specific details of your QuickBooks setup.
