Does anyone have any experience running Quickbooks 2007 with a large data file on a remote server using an VPN connection over the internet? How is the performance?

Not 2007 no, but our group does have experience with 2006 in a Terminal Server Environment, over a WAN... i don't know if that would help you or not.
