"Taxable Item" setup questions: Web sales in state=Yes -- Out of state=No ??

On our web site...

If we sell to someone in our state we have to collect sales tax.

If they are out of state we do not.

How can we set this up in QB Basic?

As when we setup the Inventory Item we have to indicate if the item is taxable or not.

thanks for any help.

You can set items up as taxable -

You need to create a tax code for out of state sales and use it on those customers.

Here we go again. One question after another

RTFM! as in Read The F*&^$# Manual!

Actually everything is taxable all the time. It is just the tax rate that is different. Some is taxed at 0% like Out of State or Sales to Resellers. Other is taxed at 99.9% or whatever you state tax rate is. By taxing everything it will all total on the sales tax liability report usually making it easier to fill out the sales tax form.

If there is one thing I wish I could remove from QB it would be the worthless sales tax codes.
