What do I need to buy?

Dec 20, 2006 2 Replies

Hi everyone, Using the Intuit's help wizard I managed to figure out what I need for my consulting business, that's QuickBooks Pro + Payroll. Now I have to figure out which year version of the software I need. For the current year (2006) I haven't used any software, just Excel income/expense tracking. I would like to enter this data into QuickBooks and issue single salary to myself for 2006. Then, I would like to continue to use BuickBooks to manage my business during 2007. My question is, what do I need to buy? Can I just purchase the new QB2007Pro + Payroll2007 and use for 2006 business activities, or I have to buy both 2006 and 2007 packages?

Thanks in advance.

You can get the new 2007 Pro software and enter your 2006 data into the program. The year of the program does not impact what year's data you can enter into it.

How many employees do you have? If it is just yourself, then doing payroll manually would certainly save you a lot of money. Check with your bank or CPA to see if they offer low cost payroll services.

Also, check with your accountant to determine if you should be taking a draw or a salary. It is dependent on what type of business entity you have.

Thanks Laura, that's all I wanted to know. Have a wonderful holidays and Merry Christmas
